Look that shit up!

If you are reading this, you’re likely sick and tired of how politicians and those in power use immigration to exploit crises or blame immigrants for our country’s problems for their own self interest.

When in fact, what you’re really looking for is a credible source that focuses on solutions instead of the same old nonsense rhetoric of blaming immigrants.

Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Breaking and entering, kidnapping, destruction of property… who’s the real criminals here? And while we’re at it, stop referring to human beings as “aliens”. If you don’t see a problem with how our communities are being terrorized right now (under the false premise of “law and order”) you’re being willfully obtuse. #SEIUpartner #solidarityseason

MYTH BUSTING

No real line

Job creators, not takers

Everyday people detained by ICE

Don’t miss what’s next!

FROM THEN TO NOW

Hate thrives on racism and dehumanization.

People fear what they don’t understand, and throughout history, those in power exploit this fear and spread lies about a particular group of people to justify violence against individuals who may look different from you and me, speak a different language or English with an accent, or come from a different background.

We’ve seen this throughout American history:

1800’s

CEA Gallery Angel Island Women

In the 1870s and 1880s, anti-Chinese campaigns resulted in laws that excluded Chinese Americans from the United States.

1930’s

During the 1930s, military-style tactics were used to indiscriminately arrest and deport Mexican immigrants—many of whom were American citizens— from the country.

1940’s

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. government unjustly stripped Japanese Americans of their rights and property, incarcerating over 120,000 individuals in internment camps against their will.

It’s
happening
again.

Today, we are being told that immigrants are “domestic terrorists”  and the “enemy within” to justify the illegal deployment of federal troops into American cities and allow ICE agents to carry out violent arrests operations against children, high schoolers, mothers and fathers and our neighbors.

In the meantime,
our very own government
is funneling 170 billion dollars
of our own tax dollars
to greedy CEOs and billionaires
to detain and deport our neighbors
—no joke.

You might be wondering: WTF. We can’t afford healthcare for our children and senior citizens, but we can afford to give billions of dollars to ICE?

Imagine living in America for years, even decades

—paying taxes, following the rules, and building a life for yourself and your family—

only to have it all taken away,

leaving you unable to provide for those you love

and vulnerable to separation from them.

This is the reality for millions of people who were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) due to dangerous conditions in their home countries.

Now, their work permits are being revoked, they are losing their legal permission to stay in the country, leaving likely no opportunity for them to remain together with their families in the U.S., and exposed to ICE’s enforcement actions. Learn more here.

You’ll want to see this…

The reality is that it costs us, the taxpayers, money to detain and deport individuals, most of whom pose no threat to our communities. But there’s a better way. Instead, our tax payer money could be used to lower food prices, improve access to affordable healthcare, build schools and so much more.

It’s up to each of us to use our voices to stop the abuse of power, put people over profit, and fight for an America where all residents can thrive—no matter where we were born or the color of our skin.
